Hi, I'm Xiangyu (Rosaline) Xiao. I am a Doctoral Researcher at
Loughborough University's Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical
and Manufacturing Engineering, where my work explores the rapidly
evolving future of the Industrial Metaverse.
My research sits exactly at the intersection of physical
engineering and digital design. Drawing on my background in
Mechanical Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), I
focus on using Digital Twins and Extended Reality (XR) to drive
facility optimisation and spatial visualisation. I am currently
deeply engaged in developing scalable frameworks for the
Industrial Metaverse, with a specific focus on Platform-Based
Design (PBD) and methodologies to seamlessly decouple visual
assets from the underlying behavioural logic in cyber-physical
systems.
For me, the goal of digitisation isn't just about rendering
complex data; it's about translating abstract, highly technical
environments into intuitive, user-centric experiences. Whether I
am architecting dynamic factory simulations alongside industry
partners or prototyping new spatial interactions, my core mission
is always the same: bringing the "Human" into the digital
industrial environment.
Welcome to my digital space. Feel free to explore my latest
research, interactive projects, and academic publications.
